Xander Schauffele shot a 2-under-par 70 Tuesday to win an Open Championship tune-up in Ireland.

Schauffele’s two-round score of 10 under was enough to win the JP McManus Pro-Am at Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort in County Limerick.

The event benefits charities in Ireland and gives players a chance to get acclimated to Europe ahead of the final major of the year.

The No. 11-ranked player in the world, Schauffele is just nine days removed from capturing the Travelers Championship on the PGA Tour. He heads into next week’s Open at St Andrews in Scotland still hunting his first major victory.

Schauffele beat Sam Burns by one stroke after Burns posted a 7-under 65. Ireland’s Shane Lowry was third at 8 under and England’s Tyrrell Hatton took fourth at 7 under.

One day after Schauffele set Adare Manor’s course record with an 8-under 64, Irish 50-year-old Padraig Harrington tied the record with seven birdies, an eagle and just one bogey for his own 64. He placed fifth at 6 under.

Tiger Woods followed an opening-round 77 with a 2-over 74, in which he made consecutive birdies at the 15th and 16th holes but also finished with four bogeys. It was Woods’ only tune-up event before St Andrews, where he won the Open in 2000 and 2005.

Fourteen of the top 15-ranked players in the world, including Schauffele, No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and defending Open champion Collin Morikawa, will take part in the Scottish Open later this week as one last tune-up before the Open July 14-17.
