Twitter Inc.’s boss Elon Musk, in an interview with BBC’s tech journalist James Clayton, claimed that following significant layoffs and efforts to entice advertisers back to the network, Twitter is cash-flow positive. He expressed that running the digital messaging platform has been a ” rollercoaster” ride for him.
Musk has pushed Twitter to increase its bottom line. As part of this effort to increase revenue, Twitter has tried to charge users $8 per month for access to features like editing tweets and Twitter verification marks, among other things. Musk claimed that “almost all” advertisers resumed purchasing ads for their temporary withdrawal when Musk purchased the platform.
Late in October, Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion, settling a protracted legal spat with the firm. Since then, he has worked to completely revamp the platform, including its content control guidelines. This has alarmed many product placement professionals, with estimates stating that since Musk took charge, 50% of Twitter’s top 100 advertisers have deserted the network.

In the wake of the $44 billion October 2022 acquisition, brands were afraid that the app would fail to address nasty messages. Musk describes himself as a “free speech absolutist” and claims he wants to promote free speech on Twitter.

NPR stated that it will stop updating its 52 official Twitter streams with new information, making it the first major news organization to stop posting on the social media site. NPR used Twitter’s choice to first classify the network as “state-affiliated media,” the same name it employs for propaganda operations in Russia, China, and other totalitarian nations, as evidence for its judgment. NPR said that Musk’s statement is “inaccurate and misleading,” as it is a private, nonprofit organization with editorial freedom.
Musk said he might go so far as to modify the term to “publicly funded” in the BBC interview, but NPR’s decision-makers were unmoved by his statements. Even if Twitter were to completely remove the designation, the network would not return to the service right away, analysts say.
Staff members who manage the Twitter accounts will have a “two-week grace period” to update their social media plans. They have the freedom to choose whether, or not, to continue using Twitter.
