Elon Musk met with French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday, as the President attempts to encourage Musk to invest in France. Macron strives to counter American subsidies and tax breaks that European authorities fear run the risk of enticing away investment in batteries and other technology essential to the energy revolution, reports say.
Musk later confirmed that Tesla would make significant investments in the country without specifying a timeline. Macron also met with around 200 business leaders in Versailles to discuss potential investments in France.

Elon Musk reportedly arrived at his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron looking disheveled and attempting to recover from a night of partying. Prior to their meeting at the presidential palace in Paris, the tech mogul had been spotted showing off his dance moves on the dance floor of a luxurious resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Despite changing into a crisp suit, Musk still appeared unshaven during his meeting with Macron. In a lighthearted manner, he even mentioned to Macron that he had to sleep in the car before their meeting. This is not the first time Musk has mentioned sleeping in unconventional places, as he previously claimed to have slept on the Tesla factory floors to demonstrate his dedication to work.
With @ElonMusk, we talked about the attractiveness of France and the significant progress in the electric vehicle and energy sectors. We also talked about digital regulation. We have so much to do together. See you this afternoon at the #ChooseFrance Summit! pic.twitter.com/wkdwjv45OG

Although Macron has faced criticism for raising the national pension age, Musk has expressed support for his plans, stating that the retirement age of 62 was established when lifespans were shorter and it is difficult for a small workforce to support a large number of retirees.
The meeting between Musk and Macron took place in the context of France’s efforts to attract investments in electric cars. Musk’s visit coincided with the Choose France summit, where Macron aimed to secure billions of euros in investments and highlight the country’s appeal to foreign companies and investors. Macron also announced plans to tailor measures that encourage green vehicle purchases to specifically benefit European manufacturers.

France has already attracted several investment projects, including a significant one from a Taiwanese car battery maker in Dunkirk. The country expects these projects to create thousands of jobs and contribute to its green technology sector.
Overall, looks like Musk’s unshaven appearance and previous partying did not hinder his meeting with Macron, as the French president sought to capitalize on the country’s efforts to attract foreign investment in the electric vehicle industry.
