The Blue Bird has flown away from Twitter. Elon Musk replaced the iconic bird with an image of the dog breed Shibu Inu. The Twitter CEO shared the news with a tweet saying that he had made the change that he had promised to do so, earlier. Elon Musk is facing a racketeering lawsuit from Dogecoin investors who claim that his tweets have affected the value of the coin which began as a joke but is now traded.
Elon Musk tweeted an image of an old conversation where a user had told Elon Musk to “just buy Twitter” and to “change the bird logo to a doge.” Musk wrote the words “as promised” above an image of the conversation that was posted, a year ago.
The image of the Shibu Inu also comes on the micro blogging platform, a couple of days after Elon Musk asked a judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed against him by investors. The plaintiffs allege that Elon Musk ran a pyramid scheme in order to support the Dogecoin. They filed a $258 billion racketeering lawsuit against the Tesla CEO.
Dogecoin is a volatile cryptocurrency. It saw an uptick of over 20 percent in the past twenty hours and is at about 9 cents. On Monday morning, it was trading at about 8 cents.
Elon Musk has made a lot of changes on the micro blogging platform. Some of them include trimming the workforce and changing its verified program. All users are expected to pay $8 each month to get a verified blue tick. Twitter said that accounts which do not pay the monthly fee will lose their verification badge from April 1.
As of now, it remains unclear whether the change of the icon of Twitter is temporary or permanent. If it becomes permanent will tweets be called barks in future? We wonder!
