Tesla CEO (TSLA), Elon Musk who leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), officially announced its first act. The department removed the Chief Diversity Officers Executive Council website. It was part of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). The DOGE has an office in the White House and also has an official government email.

Elon Musk wrote, “It begins” and posted the screenshots on X. This indicates that the website has been or will be shuttered. Elon Musk posted hours after President Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday.

Before January 19, 2025, the site on OPM described itself as “the principal interagency forum to implement and sustain a national strategy for DEIA across the Federal government and position the Federal government as a model for DEIA.”

On January 20, 2025, a 404 Page Not Found server error can be seen.

The development has been described as “progress” by the DOGE account on X.

President Trump as well as web fans applauded the immediate action and said that January 20 was “the day DEI died.”

Earlier reports said that President Trump would issue an order to end “diversity, equity and inclusion” programs by the federal authorities on his first day in office.

Trump had promised to scrap DEI initiatives during his campaign. According to the New York Post, in a press call, an official from the incoming White House administration told reporters, “It is ending radical and wasteful DEI programs and preferences.”

The outlet reported that the Trump aide said “It asks for OMB and OPM to coordinate with the various agencies to terminate all discriminatory programs in the agencies—so that is going to include illegal DEI mandates, policies, programs, preferences and activities.”

Elon Musk is leading the DOGE initiative as the co-leader Vivek Ramaswamy has confirmed that he left the department. He might announce a run for Ohio governor, in the near future.
