Dylan Disu scored 17 points and Chendall Weaver added 16 as Texas dominated the final 12 minutes and rolled to an 81-65 win over visiting Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon in a Big 12 Conference dustup in Austin, Texas.
Max Abmas added 15 points for the Longhorns, who won back-to-back games for the first time since Jan. 20 and 23.
The Longhorns (19-10, 8-8 Big 12) led by nine points at halftime before Oklahoma State bounced back to tie the game at 52 with 12:20 to play. Texas answered with a 14-0 run while getting points from five different players, with the spurt punctuated by a 3-pointer by Disu with 9:18 remaining. The Longhorns waltzed to the finish line, thanks to a 12-1 edge in second chance points after halftime.
John-Michael Wright hit for 18 points to lead the Cowboys while Javon Small and Quion Williams had 13 points each and Jamyron Keller scored 11. Oklahoma State (12-17, 4-12 Big 12) lost its third straight game.
The game was tied at 18 after Wright’s 3-pointer at the 10:57 mark of the first half. Texas took over with an 11-0 run in which Disu hit a pair of jumpers and Weaver capped the surge with a three-point play with 7:01 remaining in the half.
Oklahoma State roared back, pulling to within 33-30 when Small canned three free throws with 3:46 remaining. The Longhorns swung back, expanding their advantage back to 10 points when Abmas hit a 3-pointer with 46 seconds left before carrying a 45-36 lead to the break.
Disu led all scorers before halftime with a dozen points while Abmas hit for 10 for the Longhorns, who shot 56.7 percent from the floor and were 5 of 9 from beyond the arc in the half.
Williams led the Cowboys with 10 points over the first 20 minutes.
Oklahoma State rallied, tying the game at 52 when Small hit a 3-pointer with 12:20 to play. Brock Cunningham’s trey and two free throws, the latter with 11:26 left, put the Longhorns back up by five at the start of the decisive burst.
