Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson teamed up with charity Gamers Outreach and Microsoft to give away a bunch of new game consoles to children’s hospitals across the US, before its release on Tuesday. The actor mentioned this on an Instagram video on Monday. The Series X and the cheaper Series S were released by Microsoft on Tuesday.
The special edition consoles have Johnson’s Brahma Bull logo. This logo represents strength, power, heart and resilience. There is a special engraved message from him for the children. It says, “Keep smiling and have fun. Love, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.”
“These kids are battling through their illnesses with incredible bravery and I’m thrilled Microsoft, Games Outreach, and myself can provide some joy and smiles,” the actor wrote on Instagram. “You kids show me and the world, what real strength means, stay strong & keep smiling…and stuff like this will always be the best part of my fame.”
The Rock has a long association with Xbox. In 2001 he appeared with Bill Gates, Microsoft co-founder, during the original console’s announcement at CES that year. This year he partnered with Microsoft and Games Outreach to deliver consoles to 20 children’s hospitals. Go Karts, portable kiosks that help children who are unable to leave their rooms, were also donated.
