Wisconsin-Green Bay men’s basketball coach Doug Gottlieb is pausing his national radio show to focus on his team.

His afternoon drivetime talk show, “The Doug Gottlieb Show,” airs weekdays from 3-5 p.m. ET on Fox Sports Radio.

Gottlieb has been doing double-duty since taking the job at Green Bay in 2024. He has hosted the program since 2006, originally with ESPN Radio before moving to CBS Sports Radio in 2013 and to Fox Sports Radio in 2017.

Gottlieb, 49, is in his second season coaching the Phoenix. He announced his decision to step away from the show after Green Bay’s 67-64 win against UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday night.

“I’ve been doing this for a long time. But these kids (are) owed a fully dedicated coach,” Gottlieb told reporters after the game. “I know I’m fully dedicated. But you only get one shot at this thing, and if there is any ounce of lack of prep or fatigue …”

Gottlieb said his show’s responsibilities caused him to miss time with the team after its 85-75 Horizon League road win at IU Indianapolis on Dec. 11.

“This is going to sound crazy, but last week, we go down to Indy, and because of the timing of my show, the bus had to leave without me, and I flew,” he said. “I just, I don’t think that’s what I want to do as a coach.”

After finishing 4-28 in his first season with the Phoenix in 2024-25, which included a 21-game losing streak, the first-time head coach’s squad is off to a 6-7 start this season.

A point guard, Gottlieb played college basketball at Notre Dame (1995-96) and Oklahoma State (1997-2000).
