DOTA News: Tidebound, Gaimin, Xtreme move on at PGL Wallachia 3

Team Tidebound, Gaimin Gladiators and Xtreme Gaming earned victories on Tuesday to clinch berths in the playoffs of PGL Wallachia 3 at Bucharest, Romania.

All three victors improved to 3-1 in the event’s group stage. Team Liquid and Team Spirit previously wrapped up playoff berths by winning all three of their group matches.

Team Tidebound beat Team Falcons 2-0, Gaimin Gladiators swept Aurora Gaming 2-0, and Xtreme Gaming came from behind to top Tundra Esports 2-1.

In the day’s matches involving teams that had been 1-2, Yellow Submarine rallied past Nigma Galaxy 2-1, HEROIC toppled Wildcard 2-0 and Natus Vincere bested AVULUS 2-0.

The $1 million Dota 2 tournament began last weekend and runs through Sunday. Using the modified Swiss system of play, the group stage consists of five rounds before the top eight teams advance to the playoffs.

All group stage matches are best-of-three, and the playoffs are double elimination. All playoff matches are best-of-three except for the grand final, which is best-of-five. The championship team will earn $300,000.

On Tuesday, Team Tidebound defeated Team Falcons twice on green, each time in 32 minutes. China’s Guo “shiro” Xuanang paced Team Tidebound with an average 9.0/0.0/8.5 kill-death-assist ratio. Slovakia’s Oliver “skiter” Lepko posted a 2.5/4.5/1.5 K-D-A ratio for Team Falcons.

Gaimin Gladiators logged a 40-minute win on red and a 30-minute win on green vs. Aurora Gaming. Kazakhstan’s Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov wound up at 10.0/1.5/11.0 for Gaimin Gladiators. Ukraine’s Artem “lorenof” Melnick finished at 5.0/3.5/4.0 for Aurora Gaming.

Tundra Esports opened with a 35-minute win on red, but Xtreme Gaming captured the next two maps, both on green, in 66 minutes and 42 minutes. China’s Wang “Ame” Chunyu logged a 12.3/5.3/12.7 K-D-A ratio for Xtreme Gaming. Bulgaria’s Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov registered a 6.7/4.3/9.0 K-D-A ratio for Tundra Esports.

After Nigma Galaxy claimed a 32-minute victory on red, Yellow Submarine bounced back for a 40-minute win on red and a 61-minute triumph on green. Russia’s Maxim “reibl” Afanasyev shined for Yellow Submarine at 7.3/4.3/13.3. Malaysia’s Daniel “Ghost” Chan ended up at 9.3/5.0/7.3.

HEROIC handled Wildcard in 62 minutes on red and 36 minutes on green behind a 14.5/4.0/11.5 effort from Nicaragua’s Yuma “Yuma” Langlet. Francis “RCY” Fundemera amassed a 9.0/3.5/13.5 K-D-A ratio for Wildcard.

Natus Vincere eliminated AVULUS in 39 minutes on green and 62 minutes on red. Mongolia’s Sukhbat “sanctity-” Otgondavaa put up a 18.5/2.5/15.0 K-D-A ratio for Natus Vincere. Belarus’ Aliaksei “Smiling Knight” Svirydau recorded a 6.5/5.0/6.5 K-D-A ratio for AVULUS.
