DOTA News: Team Spirit lone unbeaten left at DreamLeague

Team Spirit continued their perfect start to Stage 2 of DreamLeague Season 24 group play on Monday, beating Team Waska 2-1 to improve to 4-0.

The other unbeaten team in Stage 2 entering Monday, PARAVISION, weren’t as fortunate, falling 2-0 to BetBoom Team.

Team Liquid got their first win of Stage 2 on Monday, beating Tundra Esports 2-0, while Team Falcons kept Xtreme Gaming winless with a 2-1 decision.

Group Stage 1 featured two groups competing in single round-robin play, with all matches consisting of two games. The top four teams from each group moved on to Group Stage 2.

The eight teams that advanced to Group Stage 2 are playing each other in a lone round-robin group. All matches are best-of-three, and the two best squads will land in the upper bracket of the playoffs, the third- and fourth-place teams will head to the lower bracket of the playoffs and the remaining four teams will be eliminated.

Group Stage 2 runs through Thursday.

The playoffs, which start on Saturday, will feature a double-elimination bracket. All matches are best-of-three aside from the best-of-five grand final on Sunday. The winner will take home $300,000 of the $1 million prize pool.

On Monday, Team Spirit opened with a 41-minute win on red before Team Waska posted a 47-minute victory on red. Spirit claimed the decisive third map on green in 31 minutes. Russia’s Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov paced Spirit with an average kill-death assist ratio of 8.0/1.7/7.0.

BetBoom Team topped PARAVISION in 53 minutes and 32 minutes, both on red. Russia’s Gleb “kiyotaka” Zyryanov guided BetBoom team with an average K-D-A ratio of 11.5/4.0/13.5.

Team Liquid took down Tundra Esports in 35 minutes on red and in 41 minutes on green. Sweden’s Michael “miCKe” Vu recorded a 10.5/2.5/7.5 K-D-A ratio for Liquid.

Team Falcons logged a 39-minute win on green, only to see Xtreme Gaming level the match with a 33-minute victory on green. Falcons put away the series in 34 minutes on green. Jordan’s Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf was the key player for Team Falcons with a 7.7/2.3/9.0 K-D-A ratio.

With three days remaining in Stage 2, Team Spirit enter the most difficult portion of their schedule. Starting on Tuesday against PARIVISION, the 4-0 Spirit have three straight games against teams currently sitting at 3-1.
