Team Spirit rallied after dropping the first map to defeat Team Liquid 2-1 and advance to the grand final on Sunday at the Dota 2 PGL Wallachia Season 6 in Bucharest, Romania.
The loss in Saturday’s upper-bracket final dropped Team Liquid into the lower-bracket final on Sunday against MOUZ, with the winner taking on unbeaten Team Spirit.
The $1 million event awards $300,000 to the winner, with the runner-up getting $175,000 and the third-place squad pocketing $120,000. The double-elimination playoffs run through Sunday. All matches are best-of-3 save the championship, which is best-of-5.
Team Liquid claimed the opener in 31 minutes on red before Team Spirit came back with wins in 29 minutes and 41 minutes, both on red.
Russian Denis “Larl” Sigitov finished the match with a 23-7-33 kill-death-assist ratio on the day, while Ukrainian teammate Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk posted a 19-7-17 K-D-A ratio for Team Spirit.
MOUZ advanced to the lower-bracket final with a 2-1 victory over BetBoom Team in the lower-bracket semifinal. BetBoom Team captured the opening map in 36 minutes on green before MOUZ rallied with wins in 31 minutes on green and 30 minutes on red.
Malaysian Yeik “MidOne” led MOUZ with a 25-16-31 K-D-A ratio on the day.
In the first lower-bracket quarterfinal, MOUZ swept OG 2-0, winning in 36 minutes on green and 52 minutes on red. BetBoom Team had to battle PARIVISION for a 2-1 outcome in the other quarterfinal. BetBoom won the first map in 37 minutes on green, PARIVISION drew even with a 26-minute win on green, then BetBoom needed 48 minutes on red to take the match.
