HEROIC, OG, Shopify Rebellion and Team Liquid all registered two wins on Thursday as the Elite League Season 2 got underway in Lima, Peru.

The initial group stage of the $800,000 Dota 2 event uses the Swiss system for all 16 teams, with best-of-three matches. The top eight teams advance to the second group stage, with the remaining teams eliminated.

The second phase, which runs Sunday through Wednesday, will have the remaining eight teams play a round robin of best-of-two matches. The top four teams move into the playoffs’ upper bracket, while the lower four teams head to the playoffs’ lower bracket.

The double-elimination playoffs run Aug. 2-4, with all matches best-of-three until the best-of-five final. The winning side will receive $240,000, and the runner-up will get $120,000.

On Thursday, OG won both of their matches 2-0. They topped Apex Genesis in 33 minutes on green and 28 minutes on red, then defeated Yellow Submarine in 24 minutes on green and 21 minutes on red.
