HEROIC avenged a loss to Team Falcons by defeating them 3-1 in the grand final at the PGL Wallachia Season 2 event on Sunday in Bucharest, Romania.

After Falcons had defeated HEROIC 2-1 in Saturday’s upper-bracket final, HEROIC was sent to the lower bracket. They began Sunday’s action with a 2-1 win over Tundra Esports in the lower-bracket final to set up their grudge match with Team Falcons.

Falcons won the first map in a whopping 74 minutes on green. HEROIC pulled out a 50-minute win on green to tie the score, then prevailed in 62 minutes on red before closing the deal with a shorter 31-minute victory on green.

David “Parker” Nicho Flores of Peru won tournament MVP honors for HEROIC. He averaged a 15.0-2.5-11.0 kills-deaths-assists ratio in four maps against Falcons.

In the previous match, HEROIC sandwiched 61-minute and 44-minute wins on green around a 50-minute loss on red to Tundra Esports.

The $1 million Dota 2 event started with 16 teams in a modified Swiss-system group stage. The top eight teams — all of which had to achieve three wins — advanced to the double-elimination playoffs, while the bottom eight were eliminated.

All matches were best-of-three except for the best-of-five grand final on Sunday. HEROIC pocketed $300,000 as champions, with the runner-up Falcons receiving $175,000.

PGL Wallachia Season 2 prize pool:
1. $300,000 — HEROIC
2. $175,000 — Team Falcons
3. $120,000 — Tundra Esports
4. $80,000 — Natus Vincere
5-6. $60,000 — Nouns Esports, beastcoast
7-8. $40,000 — Infinity, AVULUS
9-11. $20,000 — Alliance, Azure Ray, Invictus Gaming
12-14. $15,000 — L1GA TEAM, MOUZ, Nigma Galaxy
15-16. $10,000 — Apex Genesis, Team Waska
