HellRaisers, who began the day winless in the $500,000 Dota Pro Circuit Lima Major, were the only team to win twice on Friday.
HellRaisers (2-3-1) downed BetBoom Team (0-2-3) in 37 minutes and 32 minutes, then beat Team Aster (0-1-4) in 45 minutes and 37 minutes. The results moved HellRaisers up to sixth place in Group B.
Ten of the day’s other 16 matches ended in 1-1 ties. The exceptions: PSG.LGD’s win over Tundra Esports in 36 minutes and 31 minutes in Group A, Evil Geniuses’ victory over Tundra Esports in 63 minutes and 40 minutes in Group A, TSM’s win over EHOME in 44 minutes and 24 minutes in Group A, and beastcoast’s triumph over Knights in 23 minutes and 34 minutes in Group B.
The Lima Major is the first major of the Dota Pro Circuit 2023 season, and the first DPC major ever held in South America. The 18-team event consists of four teams each from Western Europe and China, three each from Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe, and two each from North America and South America.
A pair of nine-team groups will conduct round-robin play through Sunday, with all matches best-of-two. The top four teams from each group advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs, and the fifth- and sixth-place teams in each group move on to the lower bracket.
The playoffs (double-elimination, best-of-three) begin Tuesday, with the Grand Final taking place March 5. The Grand Final will be the only best-of-five match of the tournament. The winner will take home $200,000 and 400 DPC points. Second is worth $100,000 and 350 points.
Another 16 matches are scheduled for Saturday, and the group stage concludes with eight matches on Sunday.
