Gaimin Gladiators pulled off a 3-0 sweep of Team Liquid on Sunday in the grand final of the $500,000 Dota Pro Circuit Lima Major.

Both squads had met in the upper-bracket final on Saturday, when Gaimin Gladiators cruised to a 2-0 sweep of Team Liquid, sending it to the lower-bracket final. Liquid took care of business there, beating Talon Esports 2-0 to reach the grand final, where Gaimin Gladiators once again had Liquid’s number.

Gaimin Gladiators made quick work of Team Liquid, prevailing in 45 minutes on red, 21 minutes on green and 42 minutes on red to claim the first-place prize of $200,000 and 400 DPC points. Team Liquid received $100,000 and 100 DPC points as the runner-up.

Quinn “Quinn” Callahan of the United States paced the winning side with an average kills-deaths-assists ratio of 11.0-1.3-11.7. Sweden’s Michael “miCKe” Vu led Team Liquid with an average K-D-A ratio of 3.3-4.3-6.7.

The Lima Major was the first major of the Dota Pro Circuit 2023 season and the first DPC major ever held in South America. The 18-team event consisted of four teams each from Western Europe and China, three each from Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe and two each from North America and South America.

A pair of nine-team groups held round-robin play last week, with all matches best-of-two. The top four teams from each group advanced to the upper bracket of the playoffs, and the fifth- and sixth-place teams in each group moved on to the lower bracket.

The grand final was the only best-of-five match of the tournament.
