DOTA News: Evil Geniuses advance in DreamLeague tiebreaker

Evil Geniuses advanced in a tiebreaker Thursday to seize the final spot in Group Stage 2 at DreamLeague Season 20.

Evil Geniuses defeated Tundra Esports and Team Secret in best-of-one matches to finish fourth in Group A.

Team Spirit, PSG.LGD and Talon Esports previously qualified for the next stage in Group A, with 9Pandas, BetBoom Team, Gaimin Gladiators and Team Aster advancing from Group B.

Sixteen Dota 2 teams from around the world were invited to DreamLeague Season 20 to compete for a $1 million prize pool. The winner will receive $300,000 and the runner-up will earn $175,000, with the top two finishers also qualifying for the Riyadh Masters later this year.

Group Stage 1 began Sunday with a single round-robin format and all matches best-of-two. The top four teams from each group advance to Group Stage 2 and form one single group of eight. The top four finishers from Group Stage 2 will qualify for a double-elimination playoff stage June 24-25.

In Thursday’s round-robin Group A tiebreaker, EG was 2-0, Tundra was 1-1 and Secret was 0-2. EG defeated Tundra in 35 minutes on green and defeated Secret in 44 minutes on green.

Group Stage 2 begins Friday with four best-of-three matches:
–Team Aster vs. 9Pandas
–Team Spirit vs. PSG.LGD
–Gaimin Gladiators vs. BetBoom Team
–Evil Geniuses vs. Talon Esports
