DOTA News: BetBoom Team open Belgrade Dota event with two wins

BetBoom Team were the only team to sweep two matches on Saturday as the BetBoom Dacha Belgrade event got underway in Serbia.

In Group A, BetBoom Team earned 2-0 sweeps of MOUZ and Talon Esports.

Five other teams were undefeated in opening-day action.

Tundra Esports went 1-0-1 in Group A, drawing 1-1 against Yakult’s Brothers before downing Talon Esports 2-0. Yakult’s Brothers also drew 1-1 against Team Liquid.

In Group B, Aurora Gaming dumped Nouns Esports 2-0, then tied L1GA TEAM 1-1. Gaimin Gladiators played only once, defeating L1GA TEAM 2-0. Team Spirit drew a pair of matches 1-1, against Nouns Esports and Team Falcons.

The $1 million Dota 2 event began with 12 teams divided in two groups for round-robin play. Group matches are all two maps. The top four teams from each group advance to the double-elimination playoffs, which begin Wednesday. The bottom two teams in each group will be eliminated.

Playoff matches will be best-of-three until the final, which will be best-of-five. The champion will pocket $400,000, and the runner-up will get $200,000.

In their first match, BetBoom Team got past MOUZ in 27 minutes on red and then in 27 minutes on green. Russia’s Gleb “kiyotaka” Zyryanov compiled an average 7.5/1.5/15.0 kill-death assist ratio for BetBoom Team.

Against Talon Esports, BetBoom Team prevailed in 23 minutes on green and 25 minutes on red. kiyotaka again paced BetBoom Team with an average 8.0/1.0/8.5 K-D-A ratio.
