BetBoom Team opened the Bali Major 2023 playoffs Wednesday with a sweep against Tundra Esports.
The other three matches in the upper-bracket quarterfinals were 2-1 decisions, with Team Liquid beating PSG.LGD, Gaimin Gladiators defeating beastcoast and Quest Esports taking down Team Aster.
BetBoom Team followed up a 35-minute win on red with a 105-minute victory on green. They will face Liquid in the semifinals, while Tundra Esports dropped into a lower-bracket Round 1 match with Azure Ray.
Liquid opened with a 55-minute win on green against PSG.LGD, who answered with a 35-minute victory on green. Liquid advanced with a 33-minute win on red.
Gaimin Gladiators and Quest will meet in the other upper-bracket semifinal. After losing the opening map, GG rallied past beastcoast with a 34- and 36-minute wins on red. Quest sandwiched 32- and 38-minute wins on red around a 30-minute loss to Aster.
Eighteen Dota 2 teams from around the world were invited to compete for a $500,000 prize pool. The winner will receive $200,000 and 600 DPC points, and the runner-up will earn $100,000 and 550 DPC points.
The double-elimination playoffs are all best-of-three matches until Sunday’s best-of-five grand final.
