BestBoom Team beat Team Yandex on Saturday to advance to the grand final of the FISSURE Playground 2 event in Belgrade, Serbia.
Team Yandex could get another shot as they face Team Falcons in the lower-bracket final earlier Sunday before the best-of-five grand final. Team Falcons advanced on Saturday by ousting Team Liquid 2-1 in the lower-bracket semifinal.
The $1 million Dota 2 event began with 16 teams competing in a Swiss system group stage from Oct. 23-27. The top eight teams from that stage advanced to the double-elimination playoffs.
All playoff matches are best-of-three except for the grand final. The winning team will take home a $300,000 prize plus a $50,000 club reward.
BetBoom Team downed Team Yandex 2-1, opening with a win in 46 minutes on green before Yandex won in 43 minutes on green. BetBoom was on green for the clinching 49-minute victory.
Ilya “Kiritych” Ulyanov of Russia helped BetBoom to victory with a 24-12-16 kill-death-assist ratio.
Team Liquid started the day with a 2-1 win over MOUZ in the lower-bracket quarterfinals. MOUZ opened with a 39-minute win on green before Team Liquid rallied with victories in 59 minutes on green and 31 minutes on red.
Michael “miCKe” Vu of Sweden produced for Team Liquid with a 25-11-27 K-D-A.
That earned a match against Team Falcons, the top-seeded team in group play, in the lower-bracket semifinal. This time, Team Liquid started fast with a 34-minute win on red before Team Falcons responded with victories in 49 minutes on red and 43 minutes on green.
Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak of Russia posted a 26-11-32 K-D-A for Team Falcons and teammate Oliver “skiter” Lepko of Slovakia had a 17-9-36 K-D-A.
