BetBoom Team and Gaimin Gladiators recorded one-sided wins on Friday to reach the upper-bracket final at the FISSURE Universe: Episode 4 event.
BetBoom trounced Team Tidebound 2-0, and Gaimin Gladiators thrashed Team Falcons 2-0.
In lower-bracket first-round action, Team Spirit swept PARIVISION 2-0, and Tundra Esports eliminated Team Liquid 2-0.
The $500,000 Dota 2 tournament began with a group stage that used a modified Swiss system for 16 teams. All matches were best-of-three. The top eight teams advanced to the playoffs, and the remaining teams were eliminated.
The playoffs, which run through Sunday, feature a double-elimination bracket. All matches are best-of-three until the grand final, which is best-of-five. The winning team will earn $250,000.
On Friday, BetBoom bested Tidebound in 57 minutes on red and 42 minutes on green. Russia’s Danil “gpk” Skutin produced an average 10.0/1.5/10.5 kill-death-assist ratio for BetBoom. China’s Lin “planet” Hao finished at 4.0/3.5/9.0 for Tidebound.
Gaimin Gladiators blitzed Team Falcons twice on green, in 38 minutes and 37 minutes. Kazakhstan’s Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov excelled for Gaimin Gladiators at 10.5/2.0/10.0. Russia’s Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak wound up at 6.0/4.5/7.5 for Team Falcons.
Spirit notched a pair of wins on green against PARIVISION, in 51 minutes and 22 minutes. Ukraine’s Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk posted a 14.5/2.0/9.5 K-D-A ratio for Spirit. Russia’s Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov ended up at 7.5/7.0/4.5 for PARIVISION.
Tundra Esports got past Liquid in 23 minutes and 40 minutes, both on red. Israel’s Neta “33” Shapira paced Tundra at 8.5/2.5/10.5. Sweden’s Michael “miCKe” Vu topped Liquid at 4.0/5.0/3.5.
