DOTA News: Aurora, NAVI and Liquid advance to playoffs at PGL Wallachia

Aurora, Natus Vincere and Team Liquid booked their spots in the PGL Wallachia Season 5 playoffs with group stage wins on Tuesday in Bucharest, Romania.

All three teams improved to 3-1 with Round 3 wins, with Liquid rallying from a first-match loss to beat Team Tidebound, NAVI also besting BetBoom Team 2-1 and Aurora sweeping Tundra Esports 2-0.

The group stage runs through Wednesday and features 16 teams in a modified Swiss system. All matches are best of three. Eight teams make the playoffs, which are double elimination and start Thursday. All playoff matches are best of three except for Sunday’s best-of-five grand final.

The prize pool totals $1 million, with the winner taking home $350,000.

A day after suffering a sweep at the hands of Gaimin Gladiators, Aurora bounced back with a 35-minute win on green and a 45-minute win on red against Tundra Esports, who with a 2-2 record will face Wilcard in the next round.

NAVI opened with a 61-minute win on green before BetBoom answered with a 51-minute win on red. NAVI then came back with a 33-minute triumph on green. BetBoom will face Tidebound on Wednesday.

Tidebound started strong with a 51-minute victory over Team Liquid on red before two 54-minute losses on green.

Three other teams stayed alive with 2-2 records after winning Tuesday: HEROIC beat Edge 2-1, Wildcard swept OG and Xtreme Gaming swept Nigma Galaxy.

Action continues Wednesday with three matches in Round 5:

–XG vs. HEROIC
–Team Tidebound vs. BetBoom
