Celebrity Sabrina Carpenter shot a music video for Feathers in a Catholic church. A Brooklyn priest named Jamie Gigantiello permitted her to shoot in the church’s interior. The American singer-songwriter wore a tiny black dress and jewelry and danced through the pews. The priest was demoted after the video was shot.
The music video for Feathers was released in late October and created a huge controversy. The Diocese of Brooklyn expressed that it was “appalled” by the video filmed in the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.
The diocese re-blessed the church and demoted the priest, who allowed the singer and her team to shoot the video inside the church.
On September 20, the church was served with a subpoena. Federal authorities are investigating whether the priest Jamie Gigantiello and New York City Mayor Eric Adams had business and financial dealings.
Diocese officials said they could not comment on the matter as the review is ongoing. They also said that the church cooperated with law enforcement officers on the “conduct at individual parishes or involving any priest.”
