A family statement reads, “For decades, Dick Cheney served our nation, including as White House Chief of Staff, Wyoming’s Congressman, Secretary of Defense, and Vice President of the United States.”
The statement said that he had died on Monday due to complications arising from pneumonia and cardiac and vascular diseases. It also described his personality.
Former President George W Bush said that the death of his former vice president, Dick Cheney was “a loss to the nation.” In a statement, he also described Cheney as one of the “finest public servants of his generation.”
Dick Cheney was a strong conservative and remained a Republican. However, he disagreed with the nomination of Donald Trump as the Republican candidate and supported presidential candidate Kamala Harris in the 2024 elections. Trump won the elections and became the President of the United States of America.
Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. His father worked for the government in the Department of Agriculture, while his mother had been a soft ball player. He joined Yale on a scholarship but did not graduate. He completed a master’s degree in political science from the University of Wyoming.
Dick Cheney married his high school, sweetheart, Lynne Annie Vincent in 1964. He is survived by his wife and daughters, Liz and Mary.
