Saturday: The First Episode Reboot
NBC is rebroadcasting the very first episode of SNL, which originally aired on October 11, 1975, back when the show was called Saturday Night. Hosted by George Carlin, the episode featured musical performances by Billy Preston and Janis Ian, along with guest appearances by Andy Kaufman and The Muppets.
A fictionalized version of the making of this historic episode was released last fall, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the chaos and creativity that went into the show’s debut.
