CWEB reviews movies and posts trailers daily to help viewers choose the best available on screens near them or online. Since it may not be easy to choose from the hundreds of TV shows, documentaries, and films that arrive on streaming platforms each month, we have selected four classics that have no expiry date or time but can be watched anytime and are available this March on Amazon’s Prime Video. Web Fans are excited.
The following four titles may have been released before many of you were born and before our CWEB reviewers were born, but they are worth watching on Amazon Prime Video. Although they might have had an original release decades ago, they still find relevance due to cinematic excellence in direction, storyline, star cast, and more.
Here are our top four recommendations of the month and some highlights about these films:
Blackfish 2013
Gone Baby Gone 2007
The Last Waltz 1978
The Great Escape 1963
Blackfish
The feature-length documentary offers a fascinating and well-researched look into the ways and means sea parks operate and the detrimental effects they can have on nature’s beautiful creatures. It shows how captive killer whales trapped for humans to gawk at can behave in captivity. The documentary details the deaths of three people who tragically died because of the Orca (killer whale) named Tilikum.
Gone Baby Gone
The family drama focuses on the disappearance of a four-year-old girl from her home in Boston. The thrilling film has an all-star cast, including Amy Ryan, Casey Affleck, Michele Monaghan, Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, and Titus Welliver. It is Ben Affleck’s debut film as a director.
The Last Waltz
Martin Scorsese directed the musical documentary The Last Waltz more than four decades ago. It is a film about the rock group The Band before they decided to retire. The group performed in San Francisco in 1976. They invited several legendary musicians to join them onstage, including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, and Van Morrison. Scorsese created a film that is not only a rock classic but also timeless and can be watched more than once.
The Great Escape
A classic World War II based on a true story, The Great Escape has a timeless appeal. It features Steve McQueen, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson, and James Garner. As the name suggests, the storyline is about a group of prisoners of war (POWs) who plot their escape from a German camp. The story is inspired by allied soldiers escaping from a prison camp, and the storyline is broadly accurate.
