As predicted, Oppenheimer won the most prestigious Academy Award plus many more, including a much-deserved win for Christopher Nolan, who finally got an Academy Award for Best Director.
As predicted by CWEB, Cillian Murphy won the Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance as the namesake nuclear physicist in Oppenheimer, which also won many other Oscar awards. Emma Stone proved her acting chops once again when she won an Oscar, this time for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the film Poor Things. She had won an Oscar in the same category seven years earlier for La La Land.
Robert Downey Jr. also continued his winning spree, accepting an Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Oppenheimer. At the same time, Da’Vine Joy Randolph won Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
Barbie’s What Was I Made For? continued with its award-winning streak as it won an Oscar for Music (Original Song). The music and lyrics of this popular song are by celebrity siblings Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell. They already won an Academy Award in 2021 for writing No Time To Die lyrics. Billie Eilish became the youngest singer to win two Academy Awards on Sunday at 22.
Hayao Miyazaki won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature for The Boy and the Heron. This was the second award for the oldest Oscar winner. The 81-year-old had previously won an Academy Award for Spirited Away in 2002.
Oppenheimer won seven awards, while Poor Things won four. Jimmy Kimmel hosted the Oscar Awards event for the fourth time. He humorously touched upon several sensitive topics, although he faced some criticism on social media and hit back at his critics.
