CWEB Celebrity News – Acclaimed actress Kate Beckinsale has filed a lawsuit against the producers of Canary Black, citing alleged negligence that led to a severe knee injury during filming in Croatia. The legal action claims that unsafe working conditions and the absence of proper stunt support contributed directly to her injury.

Allegations of Dangerous Working Conditions

According to the lawsuit, Beckinsale suffered a complex tear in her left meniscus after performing a physically demanding stunt without sufficient padding or safety precautions. The scene, typically assigned to a stunt double, was executed by Beckinsale herself after her usual double was unavailable due to an ankle injury.

Court filings also accuse the production of violating standard labor practices by extending shoot days beyond the 12-hour contractual limit, sometimes stretching up to 15 hours. This allegedly led to dangerous levels of exhaustion, increasing the risk of injury.

“Too Hard and Too Dangerous”

The lawsuit highlights one particularly hazardous scene, where Beckinsale was repeatedly thrown into a wall. Despite clear safety concerns, the production reportedly demanded multiple takes, putting the actress at further risk.

Following the injury, Beckinsale required medical treatment and months of rehabilitation before returning to the set in February to complete filming. Disturbingly, the lawsuit asserts that the production team continued to pressure her into performing additional high-risk stunts, despite her recovery status.

Legal Timeline and Industry Implications

Originally filed under the pseudonym “Jane Doe” in December, the lawsuit was amended in May to publicly name Beckinsale and outline detailed allegations. Legal documents have since been served to Anton Entertainment, although the company has not yet responded publicly or in court.
