Celebrity frontman of heavy metal band Black Sabbath Ozzy Osbourne died at the age of 76. The iconic singer recently completed a farewell show after reuniting with his popular band Black Sabbath, much to the delight of his web fans. He has been suffering from Parkinson’s disease from several years. His family confirmed that he passed away on Wednesday morning and that they were with him and he was surrounded by love.
The iconic singer, who is known for his grandiose performances, performed sitting on a black throne on stage. The farewell show took place less than three weeks ago and included his band mates from Black Sabbath. The show included acts from his favorite bands including Guns N’Roses and Metallica.
The musician from Birmingham, England founded Black Sabbath in 1968 with fellow Brummies bassist Geezer Butler, drummer Bill Ward and guitarist Tony Iommi. They released chart breaking hits including Paranoid, Iron Man and War Pigs.
Black Sabbath began as a blues band with the name Earth but realized that horror movies were popular and renamed themselves as Black Sabbath that was the title of a horror film.
Ozzy Osbourne flew solo in 1979 and gave hits such as Blizzard of Oz, which included the hit Crazy Train. He released 13 studio albums. He was called the Prince of Darkness.
Ozzy Osbourne was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice: the first time with Black Sabbath in 2006 and as a solo musician in 2024. He is also credited as a pioneer for two entertainment genres: heavy metal and reality TV.
Ozzy Osbourne later became a reality TV star. He added comedic elements to his earlier infamy as a musician in the show The Osbournes appeared on MTV. The show starred his second wife Sharon Osbourne and two of their teenaged children: Jack and Kelly. Their daughter Aimee did not appear on camera.
Ozzy Osbourne had famously said that he was a family man and the craziness that he exhibited onstage was a role he played at work.
