The company introduced its next-generation AI inference-optimized solutions, the AI200 and AI250 accelerator cards and racks. These products represent a significant pivot for Qualcomm, marking its commitment to a formalized data center roadmap with planned annual releases. The AI200, slated for 2026, is engineered as a rack-level solution focused on delivering a low total cost of ownership for running large language and multimodal models. A key feature is its support for 768 GB of memory per card, providing the high memory capacity essential for complex AI inference tasks.
Scheduled for 2027, the AI250 promises a more substantial technological leap. It will debut an innovative near-memory computing architecture, which Qualcomm states will deliver a generational improvement in efficiency. This design is projected to offer more than ten times the effective memory bandwidth while significantly reducing power consumption, addressing critical pain points in modern data center operations. Both solutions are configured for rack-scale deployment and include direct liquid cooling for thermal management and confidential computing features for enhanced security.
This strategic move positions Qualcomm as a new competitor in a market currently dominated by NVIDIA and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).
