Shares of Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: EA) jumped more than 5% on Wednesday following a robust fiscal first-quarter earnings report that surpassed analyst expectations. The video game giant reported strong performance across its key franchises, including EA SPORTS FCApex Legends, and The Sims, driving solid financial results.

The company posted adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.79, significantly higher than the $0.63 consensus estimate. Net bookings climbed to $1.3 billion, exceeding internal projections, while revenue reached $1.67 billion, a slight increase from $1.66 billion in the same period last year. The growth was fueled by sustained player engagement and live-service monetization in popular titles.

However, EA’s second-quarter guidance fell short of Wall Street expectations. The company projected EPS between $0.29 and $0.46, well below the $0.79 consensus, and net bookings in the range of $1.8 billion to $1.9 billion, missing the anticipated $2 billion mark. Management attributed the softer outlook to a delay in revenue recognition for EA SPORTS FC 26 Ultimate Edition, which will now be recorded in Q3, as well as higher marketing spend ahead of major game launches like Battlefield 6.

Despite the near-term caution, EA reaffirmed its full-year forecast, expecting net bookings between $7.6 billion and $8 billion and revenue in the range of $7.1 billion to $7.5 billion. The company also reported strong operating cash flow of $1.98 billion over the past year, with full-year EPS projected between $3.09 and $3.79. Investors remain optimistic about EA’s long-term growth potential, particularly with upcoming releases and continued expansion in live-service gaming.
