Vitality recorded a sweep of Evil Geniuses on Thursday to advance to the Group A upper-bracket final at the BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2023 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Vitality posted a 16-6 win on Overpass and 16-3 victory on Vertigo to set up Saturday’s clash against Complexity Gaming. Complexity had a tougher time of it in their 2-1 win versus Ninjas in Pyjamas.
Denmark’s Emil “Magisk” Reif joined Israel’s Shahar “flameZ” Shushan with a team-high 36 kills and added a plus-17 kills-to-deaths differential for Vitality.
Paytyn “junior” Johnson had 30 kills and a plus-3 kills-to-deaths differential for Evil Geniuses, who will square off versus Ninjas in Pyjamas on Saturday in a lower-bracket semifinal.
Complexity Gaming rebounded from a 16-14 setback to Ninjas in Pyjamas on Inferno to post a 16-12 win on Nuke and 16-13 victory on Overpass.
Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski had 71 kills and a plus-16 K-D differential for Complexity.
Denmark’s Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke collected 72 kills and a plus-11 kills-to-deaths differential for Ninjas in Pyjamas.
The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event began with a double-elimination group stage, with the field split into three groups of four teams.
All matches were best-of-three as winners of each group advanced to the Fall Final. The remaining teams advance to the seeded play-in stage.
