Team Vitality and G2 Esports advanced to the grand final with sweeps in the semifinals on Saturday at the BLAST Open Fall in London.
The opponents were set for Sunday’s championship after Team Vitality knocked off MOUZ 2-0, and G2 Esports did the same to FURIA.
The six-team, $330,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament features a single-elimination bracket. Team Vitality and FURIA were seeded directly into the semifinals, while the remaining teams played in the quarterfinals on Friday.
MOUZ pulled out a 2-1 win over M80 to advance to the semifinals, and G2 Esports also prevailed on the opening day of the event, defeating FaZe Clan 2-0 in a quarterfinal match.
On Saturday, Team Vitality beat MOUZ 13-7 on Mirage and 13-8 on Inferno. France’s Mathieu “Zyw0o” Herbaut paced Team Vitality with 35 kills and a plus-14 kill-death differential. Israel’s Lotan “Spinx” Giladi was the only MOUZ player with a positive differential (plus-7) as he had 30 kills.
G2 Esports downed FURIA 13-5 on Inferno and 13-5 on Mirage. Spain’s Alvaro “SunPayus” Garcia had 35 kills and a plus-19 differential for G2 Esports. Teammate Matus “Matys” Simko of Slovakia recorded a plus-14 with 33 kills. No FURIA player had a positive differential.
