CSGO News: Team Falcons, Team Vitality reach BLAST Rivals Spring grand final

Team Vitality and Team Falcons swept their way on Saturday to the BLAST Rivals Spring event’s grand final on Sunday in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Team Falcons edged MOUZ 16-14 on Nuke before a 13-6 win on Dust II in one semifinal playoff.

Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov of Russia had 46 kills and a plus-21 kills-to-death differential for Team Falcons, while Emil “Magisk” Reif of Denmark was a plus-5 (33-28). No player for MOUZ had a positive K-D differential.

Team Vitality dispatched Team Spirit in the other semifinal with a 13-8 win on Mirage and a 13-9 victory on Nuke.

Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut of France had 41 kills and a plus-11 K-D differential, and teammate Robin “ropz” Kool of Estonia was a plus-5 (31-26).

The eight-team, $350,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament began with the teams split into two double-elimination groups.

The winners of each group moved to the playoff semifinals. The group runners-up headed to the quarterfinals as high seeds, and the third-place teams landed in the quarterfinals as low seeds. The fourth-place teams in each group were eliminated.

The single-elimination playoffs run Friday through Sunday. All group-stage matches and playoff matches are best-of-three except for the grand final, which will be best-of-five. The champion team will receive $125,000, and the runner-up will get $75,000.
