CSGO News: MOUZ power way into quarterfinals in Shanghai

MOUZ swept MIBR 2-0 on Sunday in a Round 5 match to escape the elimination stage at the Perfect World Shanghai Major in China.

MOUZ recorded a 13-5 win on Mirage and 13-6 victory on Nuke to advance to face The MongolZ in the quarterfinals of the playoff stage, where the top eight teams from elimination play will be gunning for the first-place prize of $500,000.

The playoff stage of the $1.25 million Counter-Strike 2 competition begins Thursday, and the grand final is set for Dec. 15.

Also on Sunday, HEROIC posted a 2-1 win over Natus Vincere and FaZe Clan defeated FURIA Esports by the same score.

HEROIC sandwiched a 13-3 victory on Mirage and 13-9 triumph on Ancient around a 13-5 setback on Nuke. HEROIC will face G2 Esports in the quarterfinals.

FURIA started fast with a 13-6 win on Inferno before FaZe responded with a 13-9 victory on Dust II and 13-10 triumph on Mirage. FaZe will square off against Team Vitality in the quarterfinals.

Team Liquid and Team Spirit will meet in the remaining quarterfinal.
