The Danish esports organization Copenhagen Flames filed for bankruptcy and terminated all personnel.

CEO Steffen Thomsen announced the news Monday, bringing an end to the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team that was founded in 2016.

In a statement posted on social media, Thomsen wrote that the actions were taken last Friday because the Flames were “unable to find funding for our club going forward.”

“For the past 6 months we have worked tirelessly to avoid this outcome but unfortunately we have failed,” he wrote. “And for that I am deeply sorry. In the end it is my responsibility and I feel like absolute s— that it has come to this.

“I have gone through our decision making the past years and I struggle to pinpoint exactly what we did wrong.”

The Flames failed to qualify for last month’s Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2023 and the upcoming BLAST Paris Major.

The active members of the Flames’ all-Danish CS:GO lineup included Thomas “birdfromsky” Due Frederiksen, Rasmus “raalz” Steensborg, Thomas “TMB” Bundsbaek, Johannes “b0RUP” Borup and Asger “farlig” Jensen. Their coach was Benjamin “cube” Stabell.
