More people are keeping their cars longer due to inflation, and car prices are very high and have increased greatly after COVID-19. There are more older vehicles on the road nowadays. One of these cars listed below could be yours. This large recall of at least  390,000 older model BMW (BMYY) vehicles is an important safety warning. Do not drive the car, and immediately call the BMW phone numbers listed below or call your local BMW dealership.

Hedges company reports, “About 23% of all passenger cars on the road today are 20 years old or older. Most vehicles on the road today are from 2015 to 2019, making up approximately 26% of all vehicles. 2010-2015 model year vehicles and 2005-2010 model year vehicles are about 19% and 20%, respectively. Warning for 90,000 vehicles (2000-2006 models).

BMW issues urgent “Do Not Drive” regarding Takata airbag recalls. Owners must park these vehicles immediately and contact BMW for critical repair details. The aged airbags pose severe risks, potentially causing lethal injuries due to inflator ruptures. Act now to ensure safety—free replacement parts are available. Check your vehicle’s recall status promptly and arrange a free repair to mitigate these dangers.

NHSTA reports-

“If you have the model year 2000-2006 BMW with a recalled Takata airbag, get it repaired immediately – for free. These inflators are two decades old now and, with every day that passes, they become even more dangerous as they can rupture even in a minor crash,” NHTSA Deputy Administrator Sophie Shulman said.

Replacement parts are available now for free for this recall. NHTSA urges vehicle owners to check to see if they have an open Takata airbag recall. If it does, owners must contact their dealership or BMW customer service to schedule a FREE repair and free towing or mobile repair as soon as possible.

The models involved in this recall include the 2000-2006 BMW 3 Series (E46), including the M3, the 2000-2003 5 Series (E39), including the M5, and the 2000-2004 X5s (E53), which were equipped with certain Takata-manufactured driver’s front airbag inflators.

To learn if your vehicle requires repair right now, you may:

Visit www.bmwusa.com/recall.
Call BMW Customer Relations Recall Services at 1-866-835-8615.
Contact your preferred BMW service center. Do not drive your vehicle—BMW will come to you.
