On Saturday, Donald Trump went after one of his own, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and faced the ire of a few Conservatives commentators who have been his allies. Trump’s bombastic language against his own party man got a strong reaction from Conservative commentators as he mocked DeSantis at a rally in Pennsylvania as he discussed current polling for the 2024 primaries. The polls show Donald Trump ahead of the rest of the GOP including DeSantis.
Donald Trump mocked the Florida governor by calling him “Ron DeSanctimonious.” Trump was in rare form as recent polls showed that he had a great lead when compared to other probable candidates from the GOP.
According to a report in Fox News, “We’re winning big in the Republican Party for the nomination like nobody’s ever seen before. There it is, Trump at 71 percent, Ron DeSanctimonious at 10%, Trump said. “Mike Pence at seven, oh, Mike is doing better than I thought. Liz Cheney, there’s no way she’s at 4%. There’s no way. There’s no way. But we’re at 71 to 10 and 7 to 4.”
Also, nice job launching your public attack against the most popular conservative governor in America three days before the midterms when we’re all supposed to be showing a united front

What an idiot. DeSantis is a far more effective leader of the Right than Trump was, if, that is, you expect a leader to get a lot done, rather than just talking about it and owning the libs. https://t.co/HNIFFGx6mT

Quote from major GOP donor: “You’ve got Lindsey Graham campaigning with America First Trump endorsed candidates and hard right donors supporting Dr. Oz. The only a*sholes attacking Republicans are Liz Cheney and Donald Trump.†https://t.co/XDI5sxBDYB

According to Twitter posts reported by the outlet some of the conservative commentators who took offense and considered Trump’s remarks inappropriate for various reasons included the following
Matt Walsh from The Daily Wire
Rod Dreher from The American Conservative
Ben Domenech from the Spectator
Ian Miles Cheong
Ben Kew and others.
Matt Walsh, who is also followed by social conservatives, said that Trump needed more than “a dumb nickname” to take down DeSantis whom he described as an “extremely effective conservative governor.” He also criticized Trump for attacking the “most popular conservative governor three days before the midterms.”
Rod Dreher had stronger words against Trump. “What an idiot, the senior editor wrote. “DeSantis is a far more effective leader of the Right than Trump was, if, that is, you expect a leader to get a lot done, rather than just talking about it and owning the libs.”
