On February 2, multiple media outlets have reported that CNN President Jeff Zucker has resigned from his top honcho position at CNN. The New York Times reported the news and cited a memo by him where he said that he had failed to disclose a “consensual relationship” with a senior colleague at CNN. Both of them are divorced.
The memo also said that was he asked about the relationship with one of his closest colleagues with whom he had worked with for two decades. He said that the relationship had evolved in the “recent years” and that he was required to disclose it but had not and he was “wrong” and that he was resigning.
The matter reportedly came up when the network was investigating Chris Cuomo, the popular anchor on CNN. Chris had to leave after damaging documents of him advising his brother Andrew Cuomo, who was facing sexual misconduct charges, were found during the investigation.

Ms. Allison Gollust, CNN’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer also released a statement on Wednesday. She said that Jeff and she had been close friends and professional partners for more than 20 years and that their relationship changed during Covid.
She added that she regretted that they didn’t “disclose it at the right time.” She mentioned that she was proud of her time at CNN and looked forward to continuing the great work they did “everyday.”
The New York Times also reported that it was Mr. Zucker who was the decisive voice in giving Donald Trump, the reality show “The Apprentice” that made him a household name as he regularly appeared on TV screens; when he was an executive in NBC. At CNN, Zucker publicly spoke against his former friend.
After the news of his resignation reached outlets, some channels who were against him featured the news on their homepage. Trump also released a statement claiming that there were various reasons for Jeff Zucker’s resignation and slammed the CNN network as well.
