PJ Hall and Ian Schieffelin each scored 15 points to fuel third-seeded Clemson to an 80-54 victory over sixth-seeded North Carolina State on Thursday in an Atlantic Coast Conference tournament quarterfinal game in Greensboro, N.C.

Hall and Schieffelin each sank three 3-pointers to help the Tigers (23-9) outscore the Wolfpack by a 41-18 margin in the second half. The win was Clemson’s third over its conference rival this season.

Chase Hunter collected 11 points and nine assists and Hunter Tyson recorded 10 points and 12 rebounds to lift Clemson, which advances to face second-seeded Virginia in a semifinal clash on Friday. Hall had 19 points and nine rebounds for the Tigers in their 64-57 setback to the Cavaliers on Feb. 28.

Clemson shot a robust 50.0 percent from the floor (28 of 56) and 45.8 percent from 3-point range (11 of 24). The Tigers also held a 41-28 edge in rebounds, while their reserves outscored those of the Wolfpack by a 20-4 margin.

North Carolina State’s D.J. Burns made 6 of 11 shots to finish with 12 points. Terquavion Smith finished with 11 points despite sinking 5 of 18 shots, and Jack Clark and Jarkel Joiner each added 10 points for the Wolfpack (23-10).

Joiner scored 10 quick points and Smith made a jumper to push North Carolina State’s lead to 20-11 at 10:43 of the first half before Clemson responded with a flourish. Hall sank a jumper and a 3-pointer to highlight an 13-0 run to give the Tigers the lead.

The Wolfpack whittled their deficit to three points at 45-42 early in the second half before Clemson changed the complexion of the game by igniting a 27-6 run. Schieffelin made a pair of 3-pointers and Tyson, Dillon Hunter and Brevin Galloway each converted from beyond the arc to highlight that sequence.

The Tigers were not threatened the rest of the way.
