The Toronto Argonauts host the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday night knowing that they have lost star running back Andrew Harris for the season.

Both teams are coming off losses. Calgary (5-3) dropped a 41-40 decision to the visiting BC Lions last Saturday, while Toronto (4-4) lost 34-27 to the host Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Aug. 12.

Harris sustained a torn pectoral muscle in the loss to Hamilton.

“I want to stick around and help for the rest of the season, be a leader on the sidelines,” Harris said. “I want to be able to help in any way I can. Whether I’m playing or not, I still want to make an impact.”

Harris left his hometown Winnipeg Blue Bombers during the offseason to join Toronto as a free agent.

He has rushed for 490 yards on 114 attempts and added 23 receptions for 180 yards. His rushing yardage is third most in the league.

Harris, 35, became the first Canadian to reach 10,000 career rushing yards in a victory over the host Saskatchewan Roughriders on July 24.

A.J. Ouellette is expected to replace Harris, with Daniel Adeboboye serving as backup.

“We always talk about injuries,” Argonauts coach Ryan Dinwiddie said. “Next man up. It’s the only way you can handle it.”

Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell completed 18 of 32 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns passing against B.C. He previously became the team’s all-time passing yardage leader (32,392), moving past Henry Burris.

Calgary running backs Ka’Deem Carey (hamstring) and Dedrick Mills (ankle) are listed as questionable for Saturday’s game. Kick returner Peyton Logan could see more action at running back.

Logan returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown against the Lions.

“Peyton, I think you can see, is fearless and has got good balance and is doing a good job back there,” Stampeders coach Dave Dickenson said. “He’s doing a great job back there.”
