Celtics forward Jaylen Brown rested his back Tuesday night and missed Boston’s matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Head coach Joe Mazzulla said before tipoff that Brown’s lower back pain was manageable but the team held him out in hopes of getting him back in the lineup on Wednesday night against the Toronto Raptors.
Brown entered Tuesday ninth in the NBA in scoring at 26.7 points per game for the Atlantic Division-leading Celtics (54-24).
Prior to the game, the Celtics were three games ahead of the 76ers in the Eastern Conference standings and two games behind the Milwaukee Bucks for the top conference’s top seed.
