It was another eventful day for rapper Kanye West, who is now known as Ye, on Wednesday as he was escorted out, with his team including a photographer, from Skechers office, in Manhattan Beach, Los Angeles. His merchandise, sold under the Yeezy brand, has also been removed from TJX, according to a company statement, on the same day. The list of companies dropping Kanye’s brand from their businesses is increasing, day by day.
In a statement released by Skechers, the company said that Ye had arrived at one of its offices with a team. They “engaged in unauthorized filming.” The company’s executives had a short conversation with the team and then escorted them out of the offices.
The company also said, “We again stress that West showed up unannounced and uninvited.” The Skechers brand had also said that they condemned “his recent divisive remarks and do not tolerate antisemitism or any other form of hate speech.”
On Wednesday, Massachusetts based TJX parent group of retail stores such as TJ Maxx, Marshalls and more has stopped selling Kanye West’s Yeezy brand merchandise. The parent company released a statement to this effect.
The statement from TJX said that they “do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or hate of any kind.” It also said that they had told their “buying teams not to purchase this [Yeezy] merchandise for sale in any of our stores globally.”
Earlier this week, Madame Tussauds, in Bakers Street, London, removed its wax figure that depicted rapper Ye. It said that his wax figure had been moved from the attraction floor to the archives. The wax museum also said, “Each profile earns their place at Madame Tussauds London and we listen to our guests and the public on who they expect to see at the attraction.”
The rapper has not only isolated himself commercially but has also faced a social backlash or has been quietly ignored by some celebrity stars. Some of the celebrities who are reportedly no longer his friends or have quietly dropped him or have publicly condemned his anti-semitism or his comments against the BLM movement and displaying White Lives Matter clothing at Paris Fashion Week include the following:
Ariana Grande
John Legend
Justin and Hailey Bieber
Jamie Lee Curtis
Jack Antonoff
Sarah Silverman
Harry Styles
Gigi Hadid
Jaden Smith
