On Friday, a documentary called “Concert Crush: The Travis Scott Tragedy” began screening in several cities in Texas. Travis Scott has been sued for the deaths and mayhem that resulted during his Astroworld concert in the Lone Star state last November and his team is calling the documentary which shows the tragic events that took place during and after the concert a money grab attempt.
Movie director, Charlie Minn told AP that the documentary was not made as a hit piece against the Texan rapper. Instead, it was a recounting of the devastating tragedy. The documentary also includes actual plaintiffs who have sued Travis Scott as well as a host of others whom they blame for the tragedy. Attorney Ricardo Ramos, who is representing some of the plaintiffs, is also featured in the film.
Travis Scott’s reps called it a “propaganda piece” and that’s not all they had to say. According to a report by TMZ Travis’ team called it a “farce” that was financed by the plaintiffs legal team and noted that it contained content from the members of the team.
They also said it sought to exploit and benefit financially from a tragedy, weeks after it took place. They said that the clear goal had been to make money and to sway future juries and public opinion. They continued to castigate Minn for the documentary.
The tragedy that took place on November 5, 2021, at the Astroworld Festival was huge as 10 young people died and several were injured. Travis Scott reportedly continued to rap at the NRG Park in Houston, Texas, despite the tragedy that was unfolding among the audience who came to watch him play. He later said that he was unaware of what was happening below the stage. A similar statement was made by Drake, who had also performed with Travis.
Investigations into the tragedy are ongoing, although there are indications that both Live Nation, the organization in charge of the event and Travis Scott himself, were more responsible for the tragedy, when compared with other factors.
According to a report in AP Travis Scott’s attorneys said that the rapper remained “focused on his philanthropic work in his hometown of Houston ” as well as “in lower-income communities of color across the country.” They also said that he has been working for a long time on these two efforts.”)
