Celebrity Tenoch Huerta, star of Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, has been accused of sexual assault by María Elena Ríos, a Mexican saxophonist and activist. Best known for his performances in Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico, The Forever Purge, and Güeros, Huerta has denied the allegations.
Musician Mara Elena Ríos made an effort to separate herself from Poder Prieto, a group that works to end racism in Mexico, as posted in a series of social media tweets. She claimed Tenoch Huerta is a member of the group. Ríos accused Huerta of being a “violent and sexual predator” and alleged that Poder Prieto pursued her to avoid scandals related to their Marvel movie. The accusations arose after Ríos claimed that Poder Prieto released a podcast episode featuring her without compensating her.
Tenoch Huerta, known for his role as the Indigenous superhero/rival Namor, on social media, denied the allegations of sexual assault made against him by Ríos. Huerta released a statement on social media calling Ríos’ claims “false and unsubstantiated” and emphasized that their relationship was consensual and supportive. He stated that after their relationship ended, Ríos misrepresented their interactions privately and among mutual friends.
The celebrity actor asserted that he had hired a legal team several months ago to protect his reputation and counter these false accusations. While acknowledging that he is not perfect, he firmly contested the unfounded and offensive claims against him. The Marvel star expressed gratitude for the support he has received and urged web fans to examine the facts before drawing conclusions.
