Forbes released its annual billionaires list and added a few new names, two of them being Taylor Swift, who is a billionaire thanks to her super successful Eras Tour as well as her all-time popular albums, and Sam Altman, the founder of Open AI, who gave the world its most popular chatbot ChatGPT. The top three billionaires remain the same as last year, with LVMH owner Bernard Arnault at No. 1, Tesla CEO Elon Musk at No. 2, and Amazon cofounder Jeff Bezos at No. 3.
In 2024, the world’s most decadent became richer and added $2 trillion to their wealth. According to Forbes, there are 2,781 billionaires in the world, 141 more than last year. The top 20 on the list added more than $700 billion this year.
The top richest billionaires in the world are men, and except for No. 1 Bernard Arnault, who is French, and No. 9 Mukesh Ambani, who is Indian, the other eight are American.
Meta’s Mark Zukerberg was No. 4 and has seen a bump in earnings thanks to the rise of his stock, as has Larry Ellison, the founder of Oracle.
