Taylor Swift’s newest album, The Tortured Poets Department (TTDP), not only hit the Number 1 spot on the charts worldwide but also shattered a more than five-decade record held by the Liverpool legends.
According to the official chart site, Taylor Swift outperformed one of the records set by The Beatles. She became the fastest artist with 12 Number 1 albums in official chart history. She accomplished this feat in 11 years and six months, while the Beatles took 14 years and one month.
Taylor Swift debuted at the top with Red in October 2012 up to the Tortured Poets Department on April 26, 2024. The Beatles topped the UK charts with Please Please Me in May 1963 up to The Beatles At Hollywood Bowl in June 1977.
Taylor Swift secured a 12th Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart this year. On April 26, the Official Charts Company released data about Taylor shifting a huge amount of UK charts units—270,000 in seven days with The Tortured Poets Department. She beat her earlier best of 204,000 units in 2022 when Midnights topped the chart when it debuted in the UK.
