Condé Nast, the publisher of Vogue magazine has sued celebrity rappers Drake and 21 Savage for using the magazine’s name to promote their newest album “Her Loss”. The complaint was filed in Manhattan Federal Court, on Monday night. The rappers had appeared in a fake cover of the magazine to promote the album. They had also used Howard Stern NPR’s Tiny Desk series and other shows to promote the album. A source from Drake’s team said that he was both surprised and confused by the lawsuit.

TMZ Hip Hop, who obtained the legal documents of the suit, said that Condé Nast claimed that Vogue and editor-in-chief Anna Wintour “have not endorsed [“Her Loss”] in any way”…and have asked multiple times for all promos using the Vogue name to be taken down, but nothing’s been done.”

Condé Nast’s lawsuit also claims that Drake and 21 Savage falsely promoted a collaboration with Vogue on social media. They also put up posters in major cities. The suit also stated that the rappers’ teams sent out emails “celebrating Drake’s Vogue cover.” It said that street teams across the nation would hand out copies.

The documents also say that many of those who allegedly received the false magazines claim that the false mag is a direct replica of Vogue. It also has a fake picture of rapper Drake posing with editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

According to the outlet Condé Nast wants the use of the Vogue mark to be shut by a judge. It is also claiming at least $4 million in damages.

Neither Drake, nor 21 Savage nor any representative from their team has responded when asked for comment.

Rappers Drake and 21 Savage also made an appearance in the following popular shows, (fake as of now at least).
NPR’s Tiny Desk
The Howard Stern Show
Saturday Night Live
A COLORS SHOW.

Will these companies also sue Drake and 21 Savage or will they take it as a parody remains to be seen.
