Celebrity Rapper Travis Scott Releases “Hold That Heat,” New Song Since Astroworld Tragedy

Celebrity Rapper, singer, and songwriter, Travis Scott, whose Astroworld concert turned into a tragedy, is slowly making his way back into the music industry with the release of “Hold That Heat,” the celebrity’s first official track since the tragic incident.

The 30-year-old released the song on Friday, in collaboration with producer Southside and rapper Future, more than five months after ten concertgoers, including a 9-year-old boy, were killed in a crowd surge at his Houston music festival on November 5.

The rapper said he has taken time to “grieve, reflect, and do my part to heal my community” when he announced the effort in March.

The new song follows Scott’s appearance on Kanye West’s album Donda 2’s song “Pablo.” Despite the fact that the album was launched in February, it was only available for streaming on West’s Stem Player.

In a new music video released to go with the latest song, Scott is first seen hanging out in a hallway, clutching a metal chain around the neck of an alligator. For the chorus, he raps the same line over and over again: ‘Hold that, hold that heater.’ A gun is referred to as a ‘heater’ in slang.

Scott gets on a couch with Future later in the video, and the two consume marijuana together while the singer continues to rap, while a striptease show goes on.

There are several references in the song, including one to his future album, Utopia. ‘Six months down in Cabo,’ he rapped, alluding to reports that he’s been going back and forth from a studio in Mexico.

While the star made several references to drugs and booze in the song, he did not appear to discuss Astroworld tragedy or his recent reclusiveness.

Following the tragedy, Scott offered to cover the costs of the victims’ funerals. Several of the victims’ families, though, turned down his offer. Scott initiated a number of community-based philanthropic projects months later, including Project HEAL, an event safety task.

Scott is now the target of a far larger lawsuit, with 2,800 people named as plaintiffs. In January, roughly 400 lawsuits were consolidated into one enormous case that will be heard by a single judge. While he has been out of the spotlight for the past few months, the Out West singer has been dealing with major family changes.

In February, he and his partner Kylie Jenner welcomed their second child, a boy, into the world. The celebrities gave him the name Wolf at first, the pair then changed their minds and indicated they would replace it, though they have not revealed the new name yet. Stormi Webster, the couple’s first child, was born on February 1, 2018.
