
Celebrity rapper Rod Wave has been arrested in Atlanta on drug and weapon charges. The American rapper received a Grammy nomination on the same day. The 27-year old R&B artist was booked into the Fulton County Jail on Friday. He was released on bail on Saturday.
Rapper Rod Wave, whose real name is Rodarius Green, faces charges of possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, possession of a Schedule II or Schedule V control substance, and reckless driving, according to jail records.
Wave’s lawyers told multiple outlets that their client had been “unjustly profiled and unlawfully arrested in Atlanta.” They also claimed that he was a victim of a “quota driven approach” to arrest, by the Crime SupPression Unit of Atlanta’s Police Department.
The attorney is also said that they would challenge the “baseless arrest” as well as violations of rights of their client.

Earlier this year Wave had an issue warrant against him. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office placed charges of aggravated assault, criminal damage to property, and tampering with evidence against him. Weeks later, he was also charged with battery. He faced more than a dozen separate charges in May and June.
Rapper Wave received his first ever Grammy nomination on November 7 in the category, Best Song Written for Visual Media for the track Sinners. The song appeared in the 2025 movie Sinners.
The Florida born rapper incorporates both hip-hop and R&B in his vocals. His 2019 single Heart on Ice went viral on TikTok. It also hit number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. His first album Ghetto Gospel hit number 10 on the US Billboard 200 and his following albums were also huge successes in the charts.
Rod Wave’s second album Pray 4 Love was released in 2020 and his third album SoulFly Was released in 2021. He went on to release a fourth album Beautiful Mind in 2022 and Nostalgia in 2023. Studio album Last Lap was released in 2024.
