Celebrity Kanye West has been in the headlines from several weeks. None of them have been praiseworthy and each new incident seems to either stamp his anti-semitism or make him lose money or honor. Ye, as he is now known, is no longer allowed on mainstream social media platforms but has appeared on Censored.TV an alt-right site where he was interviewed by Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes along with far-right Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes as moderator and on InfoWars a platform by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. He is also facing financial woes.
On Friday, December 9, Ari Emanuel, the CEO of Endeavor, a global sports and entertainment company wrote a commentary in the Chicago Tribune where he described recent incidents as “the cartoonish Kanye clown show” but also said that it should not distract from the spread of “antisemitism and hate and division.”
On Thursday, December 8, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) said that it has revoked an honorary doctorate that was awarded to rapper Kanye West. In a statement, the SAIC said that it condemned and repudiated Kanye West, now known as Ye, for his “anti-Black, antisemitic, racist, and dangerous statements, particularly those directed at Black and Jewish communities.”
The statement also added, “Ye’s actions do not align with SAIC’s mission and values, and we’ve rescinded his honorary degree.”
ICYMI: Kanye West opened a Christian private school called Donda Academy. Parents must sign NDAs to have their children attend. Price: $15,000 a year. The school’s not accredited. Here’s a video of kids from his Donda school singing “Good Morning, Donda.†https://t.co/H9LrfTjKd6

Kanye West had received an honorary doctorate from SAIC in 2015. The Chicago-based school had honored the rapper for his contributions to art and culture.
On Wednesday, December 7, NBC News reported that Kanye West’s Yeezy brand owed the state of California $600,000 in unpaid taxes. The outlet reviewed government records that showed that Yeezy Apparel owed the state the amount as tax liens. The company has been operating in California from 2017.
Kanye West’s comments and behavior is not only hurting himself and his Yeezy brand with fans but could also hurt his musical career. His continuing careless and provocative speech has also led to petitions asking music platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify to remove his music. Ye’s comments also increase the divisiveness in the nation, according to Ari Emanuel and others. The rapper recently announced his presidential campaign “YE24.”
